The 60-Day COMEDK UGET 2026 Sprint

High-Weightage Chapters & Mistakes to Avoid

You have roughly 60 days left until the COMEDK UGET exam on May 9, 2026. This is not the time to study everything. This is the time to study smart.

This guide will show you exactly which chapters to prioritize, how to divide your time, and which mistakes to avoid. No fluff, no shortcuts — just a practical plan that works.

The 2-Month Execution Plan

Your 60 days should be divided into two clear phases:

Month 1 (March): Class 12 Focus

Why Class 12? Because it carries approximately 67% of the exam weightage. Two-thirds of your paper comes from Class 12 topics.

What to do:

  • Focus on the "Do-or-Die" chapters listed below
  • Solve problems from these chapters daily
  • Use NCERT as your foundation for Chemistry
  • Make short formula sheets for quick revision
Month 2 (April): Class 11 + Mock Tests

Why Class 11? It still carries 33% weightage. You cannot ignore one-third of the paper.

What to do:

  • Quick revision of Class 11 high-weightage topics
  • Solve previous year questions (PYQs)
  • Take at least 11 mock tests in computer-based format
  • Analyze every mock test — identify weak areas

Why 11 Mock Tests?

COMEDK is a computer-based test. You need to get comfortable with the interface, the timer, and the screen format. Mock tests build exam temperament and help you manage time better.

High-Weightage Chapters (Prioritize These)

Not all chapters are equal. Some carry more marks than others. Focus your energy on these high-scoring topics:

Mathematics

Chapter Expected Questions
Integrals 6-8 questions
Differential Equations 5-7 questions
Vectors 4-5 questions
3D Geometry 4-5 questions

Mathematics Strategy

Integration and Differential Equations alone can give you 12-15 marks. Master standard formulas and practice different problem types. These chapters have predictable patterns.

Physics

Chapter Expected Questions
Ray Optics 5-7 questions
Alternating Current 4-5 questions
Electromagnetic Induction 3-4 questions

Physics Strategy

Ray Optics is the highest-scoring chapter. Focus on lens formula, mirror formula, and refraction problems. Alternating Current requires formula practice — make a formula sheet and revise it daily.

Chemistry

Chapter Expected Questions
Haloalkanes and Haloarenes 6-7 questions
Alcohols, Phenols, and Ethers 6-7 questions
Coordination Compounds 4 questions

Chemistry Strategy

Organic Chemistry dominates COMEDK Chemistry. Focus on name reactions, mechanisms, and conversions. For Coordination Compounds, NCERT is enough — read it thoroughly and solve all examples.

Common Mistakes to Avoid

Mistake 1: Ignoring the Tie-Breaker Rule

Yes, there is no negative marking in COMEDK. But here is what many students do not know:

The Tie-Breaker Rule

If two students have the same score, the one with fewer wrong answers gets the higher rank.

This means blind guessing on 20 questions is worse than strategic guessing on 5 questions. If you are unsure, make an educated guess by eliminating obviously wrong options.

Example: Priya and Rahul both scored 150 marks. Priya attempted all 180 questions and got 150 correct (30 wrong). Rahul attempted 160 questions and got 150 correct (10 wrong). Rahul will get a better rank because he has fewer wrong answers.

Mistake 2: Rote Memorization Without Understanding

COMEDK is not a memory test. It is an application-based exam. Questions often test whether you can apply concepts to new situations.

What this means:

  • Just memorizing formulas will not help if you do not know when to use them
  • Understanding concepts > Mugging up formulas
  • Practice problems that require thinking, not just formula substitution
Example: Amit memorized all Integration formulas but could not solve twisted integration problems because he did not understand the underlying concepts. He scored poorly in Maths despite knowing all formulas.

Mistake 3: Wasting Time on One Hard Question

Every question in COMEDK is worth 1 mark. Whether it is an easy question or a tough one, you get the same 1 mark.

⚠️ Time Management Rule

If you cannot solve a question in 90 seconds, skip it and move on. Come back to it later if you have time.

Spending 10 minutes on one difficult Math problem is a "rank-killer." You could have solved 10 easier questions in that time.

Strategy:

  • First pass: Solve all easy questions (questions you know immediately)
  • Second pass: Solve moderate questions (need some thinking)
  • Third pass: Attempt difficult questions and make educated guesses on remaining

Recommended Rapid Revision Tools

Best Resources

1. MTG's 14 Years COMEDK Chapterwise Solutions

This is one of the best resources for targeted practice. It organizes previous year questions by chapter, so you can focus on high-weightage topics and see exactly what type of questions COMEDK asks.

How to use: Solve all questions from high-weightage chapters first. Identify patterns and question types.

2. NCERT for Chemistry

NCERT is the absolute foundation for Chemistry. Most Inorganic Chemistry questions come directly from NCERT or are NCERT-based.

How to use: Read every line carefully. Solve all NCERT examples and exercises. Make short notes for quick revision.

Quick Revision Strategy

  • Formula Sheets: Create 1-page formula sheets for each chapter in Physics and Maths
  • Reaction Lists: Make a list of all important name reactions and mechanisms in Organic Chemistry
  • Error Journal: Note down every mistake you make in mock tests and revise before the exam

Final 10 Days Strategy

In the final 10 days before May 9:

  • No new topics: Only revise what you already know
  • Mock tests: Take 1 mock test every alternate day
  • Formula revision: Revise your formula sheets daily
  • Sleep well: Get 7-8 hours of sleep each night
  • Stay calm: Panic reduces performance

What NOT to Do in the Final Week

  • Do not start new chapters
  • Do not stay up all night studying
  • Do not solve extremely difficult problems that shake your confidence
  • Do not ignore mock test analysis

You Have a Clear Plan

60 days is enough time if you focus on the right things. You know which chapters carry the most marks. You know how to divide your time between Class 11 and Class 12. You know which mistakes to avoid.

Focus on high-weightage chapters. Take mock tests seriously. Understand concepts, do not just memorize. Manage your time well during the exam.

COMEDK rewards smart preparation. Follow this plan, stay consistent, and you will see results.

All the best for May 9, 2026! ?
