Eligibility Criteria

JEE Main Eligibility Criteria

To appear for the JEE Main examination, a candidate must fulfill the following eligibility conditions:

  1. Educational Qualification:
    Candidates must have passed their Class 12th (or equivalent qualifying examination) in any of the two years preceding the exam year, or they should be appearing in Class 12th in the same year in which they are appearing for JEE Main.

    For example, if a candidate is appearing for JEE Main in 2026, then they should have passed Class 12th in 2024 or 2025, or be appearing in 2026.

  2. Age Limit:
    There is no age limit for appearing in JEE Main. Candidates who meet the academic qualification criteria can appear for the exam regardless of their age.
    However, candidates must fulfill the age requirements of the institute (like NITs, IIITs, etc.) to which they are seeking admission, as individual institutes may have specific age rules.

  3. Note for IIT Admissions (via JEE Advanced):
    Candidates aiming for admission into IITs through JEE Advanced must satisfy the age limit criteria specified in the JEE Advanced brochure. Generally, candidates must be born on or after October 1st, 25 years prior to the exam year, with a 5-year age relaxation for SC, ST, and PwD categories.

 

NEET Eligibility Criteria

To appear in the NEET (UG) exam for admission to MBBS, BDS, BAMS, BHMS, BSMS, BUMS, and other related medical courses in India, candidates must fulfill the following eligibility criteria:


1. Age Criteria

  • Minimum Age: Candidate must have completed 17 years of age on or before 31st December of the year of admission.

  • Maximum Age: There is no upper age limit for appearing in NEET (UG), as per the latest update by the National Medical Commission (NMC).


2. Academic Qualification

  • Candidates must have passed Class 12 (10+2) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, Biology/Biotechnology, and English as core subjects.

  • They must have passed these subjects individually and obtained a minimum aggregate percentage in Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Biotechnology as follows:

    • General category: Minimum 50%

    • SC/ST/OBC-NCL candidates: Minimum 40%

    • PwBD candidates (General category): Minimum 45%


3. Year of Passing Qualification

  • Candidates who are appearing in Class 12 or equivalent in the same year of the exam or have passed it in previous two years are eligible to apply.


4. Number of Attempts

  • There is no limit on the number of attempts for NEET. Candidates can appear in the exam as long as they meet the age and academic qualifications.


5. Nationality

Eligible candidates include:

  • Indian Nationals

  • Non-Resident Indians (NRIs)

  • Overseas Citizens of India (OCI)

  • Persons with Indian Origin (PIO)

  • Foreign Nationals

⚠️ Note: For foreign/OCI/PIO candidates, admission will be subject to rules and regulations set by the respective authorities, states, or colleges. They must upload valid proof of nationality at the time of application.

 

JEE Advanced Eligibility Criteria

To appear for JEE (Advanced), candidates must satisfy all of the following five conditions simultaneously:


1. Performance in JEE (Main)

  • Candidates must be among the top 2,50,000 successful candidates (across all categories) in the B.E./B.Tech. paper of JEE Main in the same year.

  • The distribution of the top 2.5 lakh candidates is category-wise and includes a reservation for PwD candidates.


2. Age Limit

  • Candidate must have been born on or after October 1 of the year that is 25 years before the exam year.

  • A 5-year age relaxation is provided for SC, ST, and PwD candidates.

For example, for JEE Advanced 2025, candidates must be born on or after October 1, 2000 (or October 1, 1995 for SC/ST/PwD).


3. Number of Attempts

  • A candidate can attempt **JEE Advanced a maximum of two times in two consecutive years.


4. Appearance in Class 12 (or Equivalent)

  • The candidate must have appeared for the Class 12th board exam (or equivalent) for the first time in either the current or previous year of the exam.

  • Candidates who appeared for the first time before that are not eligible, regardless of the subjects or attempts.

For example, for JEE Advanced 2025, Class 12th must have been appeared in 2024 or 2025.


5. Earlier Admission to IITs

  • The candidate must not have been admitted to an IIT in the past, regardless of whether they continued or withdrew.

  • Candidates whose admission was cancelled after joining an IIT are also not eligible.

  • However, candidates who were admitted to a preparatory course in IITs for the first time in the previous year are eligible.

  • Candidates who were allotted a seat in IITs but didn’t join or withdrew before final round are also eligible.
